Description
Summary:A trap consisting of a floating platform equipped with two spring-driven bails and a trigger mechanism with an adjustable tension was constructed and tested. Forty-five of 89 birds captured in four kinds of traps were taken with this trap. Bail traps were more effective for capturing breeding birds in spring than were nightlighting from a boat, bait traps, cannon nets, or nest traps.
