Summary: | The viscosity of Hg solutions containing small amounts of Cd, Ga, In, Tl, Sn, Sb and Bi has been measured as a function of composition from 0 to 100°C. The viscosity values increase with solute concentration, but decrease at very low concentrations for the Hg–Ga and Hg–In solutions. The concentration dependence observed here is discussed in terms of viscosity equations which have been proposed by Nozaki and Shimoji on the basis of the small-step diffusion theory in non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. The qualitative agreement is obtained. |
