Description
Summary:A magnetometer having the sensitivity of 1×10−10 c.g.s.e.m.u. in mass susceptibility was constructed. By using the equipment, measurement of magnetic susceptibility of the liquid phase was carried out on the corrosion system between sulfuric acid solution and solid metals or their alloys such as iron, nickel, iron-nickel, iron-chromium, nickel-chromium and stainless steel. By this method the concentration of metallic ion in the solution containing a single kind of metallic ion can be directly obtained. Even in case of the solution containing more than two different kinds of metallic ion, each concentration is easy to be measured by applying this method together with other analytical methods such as spectrophotometric analysis. This magnetic measurement has an advantage that the analysis of metallic ions in liquid phase is done rapidly and easily without changing the state of the liquid phase. Furthermore, this method is applicable to the investigation of conditions of metallic ions in liquid phase. The results thus obtained are in good agreement with those by spectrophotometric measurement.
