Description
Summary:This article analyses the semantic frames activated in the media coverage of two Spanish newspapers with different ideologies, La Razón and El País. e aim of this study is to explore how these different media outlets present events related to the Yellow vest protests during the first two years of the movement. To do so, we subject press articles to the analysis of two semantic typologies: conceptual categories and semantic roles. roughout this research, qualitative analysis methods are used to dissect the language and lexical choices employed by each media outlet using textual analysis tools such as ATLAS.ti and Sketch Engine. e results indicate that the semantic frames most frequently activated in both newspapers are related to protests, arrests, and violent activities. However, despite having different ideologies, the activated semantic frames do not vary significantly between the two newspapers. is opens the door to new research questions
