Description
Summary:Prathap's (1978) comments on the topic of the nonlinear vibrations of isotropic circular cylindrical shells have led to the present treatment, in which the assumed deflected shape plays an important role in the nonlinear behavior of the shell. Two appropriate three-term mode shapes are chosen for the transverse displacement. The modal equations obtained by the Galerkin method are solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method to obtain the amplitude-frequency relationship. The numerical results of this study are compared with existing experimental values. (O.C.)
