Summary:In the last few years the scientific elaboration of problems of urbanization under socialism has been intensified. Geographers, demographers, economists, sociologists, and city planners are making their contribution to the investigation of this important problem which is a "border" problem for a number of branches of science. The theory and practice of city planning are taking on a more comprehensive character. A commission on problems of settlement has been created within the system of higher education. A number of all-union and regional meetings which have, inter alia, examined urbanization problems, as well as the first Polish-Soviet seminar on problems of urbanization, have been held.
