Description
Summary:The possibility is considered of using compact linear electron accelerators for the production of medical radioisotopes and neutron therapy. An analysis of calculated data on the flux densities of neutrons and gamma rays shows that photoneutrons and radioisotopes can be effectively produced by using the bremsstrahlung effect generated by a heavy metal target upon its excitation in a range of energies of the giant dipole resonance.
