Studying the Induction of Double-Strand Breaks in Human Fibroblasts by High-Intensity Terahertz Radiation

Results are presented from studying the effect of broadband pulses of terahertz (THz) radiation with a peak intensity of ~30 GW cm −2 and an electric field strength of ~3.5 MV cm −1 on fibroblasts. Data are obtained on the kinetics of changes in the number of foci of phosphorylated histone γH2AX, wh...

Description
Summary:Results are presented from studying the effect of broadband pulses of terahertz (THz) radiation with a peak intensity of ~30 GW cm −2 and an electric field strength of ~3.5 MV cm −1 on fibroblasts. Data are obtained on the kinetics of changes in the number of foci of phosphorylated histone γH2AX, which are markers of DNA double-strand breaks. The values of the foci remain unchanged 24 h after irradiation.
