Evaluation of the amount of superoxide anion radicals generated by ultrasonic cavitation in a TiO 2 suspension

In this study, the amount of radicals generated by high-intensity ultrasound irradiation of TiO 2 suspensions was evaluated through image processing to determine the degree of discoloration of methylene blue added to the suspension. It was found that 40 ml of distilled water, 0.2 g of H 2 O 2 with a...

Description
Summary:In this study, the amount of radicals generated by high-intensity ultrasound irradiation of TiO 2 suspensions was evaluated through image processing to determine the degree of discoloration of methylene blue added to the suspension. It was found that 40 ml of distilled water, 0.2 g of H 2 O 2 with a concentration of 50 mM, 5 g of TiO 2 pellets with an average diameter of 3.85 mm, and 20 min of irradiation with ultrasound with an acoustic intensity of 22.7 × 10 3 W m −2 were the most efficient conditions for activating the generation of radicals.
