Separation of Carrier-free 206Bi from 206pb Target

Separation of carrier free 206Bi from the 206Pb target bombarded by 19 MeV deuteronparticles obtained from the 160-cm IPCR cyclotron was studied. The bombarded lead nitrate (enriched206Pb (NO3) 2) was dissolved in 0.1 M nitric acid and 0.2 M oxine-TBP was added, and the two phases were mixed well by...

Description
Summary:Separation of carrier free 206Bi from the 206Pb target bombarded by 19 MeV deuteronparticles obtained from the 160-cm IPCR cyclotron was studied. The bombarded lead nitrate (enriched206Pb (NO3) 2) was dissolved in 0.1 M nitric acid and 0.2 M oxine-TBP was added, and the two phases were mixed well by one minute shaking. The carrier free 206Bi was separated by extraction with 0.2M oxine-TBP and then back-extracted into conc. HNO3.The recovery efficiency was about 95%. A carrier free 206Bi with sufficiently high radiochemical purity was obtained by this simple procedure.
