Summary:Periodontal disease (PD) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) are both chronic inflammatory conditions characterized by a destructive process in the deep marginal periodontal tissue and, respectively, in the joints and entheses. This article summarizes all current data regarding the association between PD and AS and assesses the impact of AS therapy on periodontal tissue.
