Summary: | A few decades ago, the PPE consisted of a question or two and a quick check for heart murmurs and hernias. Today the exam is much more extensive and often includes matters not directly related to sports participation. Physicians should take the lead in forging a consensus on the proper objectives of the exam and developing a standardized PPE form for nationwide use. |
