Description
Summary:Many factors hinder image searching on the web, including an overabundance of available images, along with an indexing vocabulary that is incomprehensible or too specialized to be useful. In addition, users do not necessarily seek the same image with the same concepts or with the same terms. This article presents the preliminary results of a study proposing to explore the behaviours of image searchers in order to extract relevant knowledge for the eventual development of a bilingual taxonomy (French and English) dedicated to indexing ordinary digital images that could be used in both monolingual and multilingual retrieval contexts.
