Summary:An overview of the research findings related to the role of inputs (water and nutrients) in five major field crops was gathered in a number of experiments conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture, Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan, during 1995-97. Yield and yield components of the major five field crops were significantly affected by the application of irrigation water and fertilizers. The importance of these components are clearly evident in the Quranic Injections. Proper water level plus seeding intensity are concluded as one of the right ways that can be helpful in boosting the poor yield of wheat, rice, maize, cotton and sugarcane.
