Summary: | One Canadian turnip rapeseed cultivar and four canola-quality strains were used as parents to create 10 two-parent synthetics to assess the performance of successive synthetic generations and determine whether the planting of the Syn0 generation is an alternative to either the Syn1 generation or a single parental planting in summer turnip rape. Parents, as a group, yielded significantly less than Syn0s, Syn1s and Syn2s. The relative order of cultivar groups was consistent over environments (i.e., Syn1 ≥ Syn2 ≥ Syn0 ≥ parents). |
