Summary: | Background: The most common chronic non - communicable diseases in the world is Diabetes mellitus. The incidence of diabetes mellitus is increasing with the increase in physical inactivity, sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy dietary habits. In addition to increased glucose level plasma lipid parameters also increase in NIDDM patients. Hypertension is one of the common complications of diabetes which further aggravates the problem. Yoga is an ancient Indian science. Now a days yoga has been applied in the field of therapeutics in various diseases like diabetes, asthma, hypertension. Aim: The objective of this case study is to understand effect of yoga in type 2 diabetics with hypertension. Methods: The study is conducted on outdoor patient basis at Dept. of medicine VIMSAR Burla with the help of department of Physiology and yoga center Sambalpur. Forty patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM) and hypertensive were put through various Yogic asana for 90 days, together with diet plus diabetic medicines. The basal parameters studied include the biochemical investigations like FBG, PPBG, HbA1C and lipid profile along with SBP, DBP.
