Description
Summary:Increased judicial autonomy in many countries, the rise of business-like parties after de-ideologization and increased media competition by means of investigative journalism help global strategies of world trade organizations to curb clientelism and corruption. The result of the interplay in these four arenas, each of which acting according to its own logic, is a remarkable increase of corruption scandals around the world, with special judicial legitimation in the Latin countries of Europe. It would be impossible to say, however, whether corruption practices have really increased in politics, as the very concept of »corruption« is constantly reformulated as a social construction resulting from this interplay.
