Summary:Preparation technique of Pt monolayer islands has been developed by combining two techniques ; the preparation of nanopores in a self-assembled monolayer of alkanethiol and deposition of Pt monolayer using Cu adlayer as a reducing agent. This novel technique gives remarkably uniform monolayer islands for island sizes ranging from 3 to 11 nm.
