Summary: | Marriage is a connecting tool between two families. In terms of Sharia, it is a bond of agreement that is tied through a marriage contract and it is approved by Allah SWT. In the Malay community, wedding ceremonies are usually held in a festive and luxurious manner, therefore every couple who wants to enter the realm of marriage must go through several wedding ceremonies. But the emergence of the COVID-19 epidemic, it has changed the daily routine of people all over the world by getting used to living in new norms, including holding public events such as weddings. Therefore, in this article, the writer will elaborate on the atmosphere of wedding celebrations during the pandemic and its relationship with Islamic values. This writing uses a qualitative approach obtained from interviews and document analysis. As a result of the findings, wedding ceremonies during the pandemic make wedding customs have to be put aside first by prioritizing the marriage ceremony only, and the ceremony must be held in accordance with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health to protect the health and safety of the community from the infection of COVID-19. Although the wedding ceremony was held simply and modestly. However, with that simplicity, it has helped the bride and groom hold a ceremony in a frugal manner in terms of time, energy and money. In addition to that, a simple wedding ceremony is held, where the bride and groom do not have to spend a lot of expenses resulting in waste and debt. Which it is encouraged in Islam. |
