Summary: | The hand-held calculator was introduced into the mathematics curriculum of the United Nations International School at the upper-elementary level during the 1977–78 school year. The new program was inspired by a summer workshop at T eachers' College, Columbia University. Calculator instruction began on an experimental level in a fifth-grade class in November 1977. This was followed by instruction in a fourth-grade class, and later in a third-grade class. |
