Description
Summary:The influence of prolonged illumination on photocarrier generation in layered organic photoconductors was studied using photoacoustic spectroscopy. Prolonged light exposure under an applied electric field decreases the photoacoustic (PA) signal and increases the photocarrier generation efficiency. When the applied field is off, the PA signal reverts to the initial value very slowly. The increase in the photogeneration efficiency and the slow recovery of the PA signal are caused by space charge due to the trapping of photocarriers. The internal electric field due to space charge was evaluated using photoacoustic spectroscopy.
