Summary: | The objective of this study was to analyze the perceived physical literacy of high school students in northern Mexico. A Likert-type questionnaire (Sum et al., 2018) was applied to 2,487 schoolchildren (1,618 female and 869 male) through Google forms. The reliability of the questionnaire shows a Cronbach's alpha of (0.842). Men are perceived as having better attitudes and skills in sports, with greater confidence to participate in physical activities and being able to self-assess their health related to physical condition, than women. On the other hand, only 31.6% of those surveyed consider that they have the ability to function socially during physical and/or sports activities. High school students do not feel comfortable to practice physical and sports activities, as well as to function socially, according to the perceptions presented in this study, these results may be useful for physical educators to promote physical literacy in high school students.
El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar la alfabetización física percibida en escolares de preparatoria del norte de México. Se aplicó un cuestionario (Sum et al., 2018) tipo Likert a 2,487 escolares (1,618 mujeres y 869 hombres) a través de formularios de Google. La confiabilidad del cuestionario muestra un alfa de Cronbach de (0.842). Los hombres se perciben con mejores actitudes y habilidades en los deportes, con mayor confianza para participar en actividades físicas y poder autoevaluar su salud relacionada con la condición física, que las mujeres. Por otra parte, solo el 31.6% de los encuestados consideran que tiene la habilidad para desenvolverse socialmente durante las actividades físicas y/o deportivas. Los escolares no se sienten cómodos para practicar actividades físicas y deportivas, así como para desenvolverse socialmente, según las percepciones presentadas en este estudio, estos resultados pueden ser útiles para que los educadores físicos promuevan la alfabetización física en los escolares de preparatoria. |
