Summary:Brain abscess is a rare but life-threatening condition. Intracardiac or extracardiac right-to-left shunting in patients with unrepaired cyanotic congenital heart disease, pulmonary arteriovenous malformations, or venovenous collaterals allows microbes unfiltered access to the brain.
