El legado de Celso Furtado (1920-2004), recientemente fallecido, al desarrollo de las ciencias sociales en América latina y al proceso de desarrollo de Brasil y la región, todavía espera un análisis profiindo. Él fue uno de los líderes intelectuales del proceso en los años sesenta y setenta y el artículo intenta subrayar algunos aspectos de su trabajo y el espíritu detrás del mismo. Sin duda es una invitación a leerlo: mucho más puede decirse pero no en un artículo que se escribe como tributo a un hombre por su dedicatión al trabajo de por vida a la causa de reducir la pobreza y las desigualdades por todo el mundo. /// Recently deceased, Celso Furtado's (1920-2004) legacy to the development of the social sciences in Latin America and the development process of Brazil and the region, still awaits a profound analysis. He certainly was one of its intellectual leaders in the sixties and seventies, and the article tries to underline a few aspects of his work and the spirit behind it. No doubt, it is just an invitation to read him; much more could be said about this, but not in a paper written as a tribute to a man for his lifelong dedication to the cause of fighting poverty and inequalities all over the world.
