Summary:Efforts to track and prevent the spread of tuberculosis (TB) are detailed. Success in eradicating TB depends on early detection and treatment. Co-infection with M. tuberculosis and HIV (TB/HIV), especially in the HBCs of Sub-Saharan Africa and South Eastern Asia, multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) TB in all regions, make control activities more complex and demanding.
