Extensive discoid lupus erythematosus in a HIV patient responding to hydroxychloroquine monotherapy

Association of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) with human immuno-deficiency virus (HIV) infection in the same patient is rare. Both conditions have similar clinical and serologic features, making their coexistence a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.
