description This study was conducted in Sinop, Mato Grosso, on two school communities. It was applied semi-structured questionnaires with questions focused on socioeconomic and the use of medicinal plants. It has as finality proved the effective use of medicinal plants on the everyday and a levy of the most used plant. The general profile of the respondents has shown that the women detain the major part of the knowledge, and that pass this uses to the future generations and friends, and find these plants on specialty stores, backyards, supermarket, root stores, bush and fairs. The plants that were found more frequently was (Ruta graveolens L.), Babosa (Aloe vera L.), Erva-Cidreira (Lippia alba Mill.), Erva-Santa-Maria (Chenopodium ambrosioides L.), Boldo (Plectranthus amboinicus Spreng.), Hortel(Menta x vilosa Huds.) e Terramicina (Alternanthera dentata Moench.).Keywords: medical plants, Sinop, school.
