Summary:The article is devoted to spatial and temporal variabilities of the river runoff on the example of the river Ural within the territory of the Russian Federation. The author points out the necessity of investigating fluctuations in the water resources of a transboundary river for the purposes of long-term water management planning. Using the coefficient of variation and asymmetry, the annual runoff variability is analyzed.
