Summary: | Loss of consciousness is a rare but potentially serious complication of delivery by cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. Here, we report the case of a pregnant woman with unicuspid aortic valve that was incidentally diagnosed during aortic valve replacement after transient loss of consciousness during cesarean section.
Unicuspid aortic valve with aortic stenosis can cause loss of consciousness during cesarean section. Evaluation for valvular heart diseases should be considered in patients who experience unexplained loss of consciousness during cesarean section after spinal anesthesia. |
