The suspended city. 9 March-3 May 2020, Torino Urban Lab In the extraordinary historical moment in which we have lived (and we still are living in), it seemed necessary to document from the specific point of view of an urban centre the first impact of the pandemic on urban space: the emptying of the city. A unique condition, whereby the place where the encounter and exchange between people occurs to the highest degree - to recall the words of Marcel Roncayolo - is deprived of its essential character and, by contrast, its purely stereometric dimension stands out. On the one hand, to crystallise the effect on urban space of an event of historical importance, with the aim of adding to the city's collective memory an iconographic repertoire to be preserved as a direct source and evidence easily accessible to the public.
