Description
Summary:[Display omitted] •Dieckol is one of the main polyphenol component in Laminaria japonica.•Polyphenols from Laminaria japonica can accelerate the recovery of non-alcoholic fatty liver.•Polyphenols from Laminaria japonica improving hepatic steatosis through stimulating hepatic fatty acid β-oxidation. An increasing number of studies indicate that dietary polyphenols are beneficial to non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFL) disease. However, the published reports about marine polyphenols are still limited. In this work, the ameliorative effect of polyphenols from Laminaria (L.) japonica on NAFL was investigated in vivo. According to the spectral analyses, dieckol was identified from L. japonica. After NAFL was induced by a high-fat diet, the ICR mice were administered dieckol-enriched extract (DEE) (50 mg/kg/day) for 4 weeks. Compared with the normal diet (ND) group, significant (P
