Summary: | According to the study, 87.2% (n=341) of the students had symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). [...]female gender, low self-esteem, poor family relationships, low socioeconomic status, severity of trauma, pre-traumatic mental disorder, susceptibility to trauma, minority race, psychiatric illness in parents, media coverage of the event, and fear of death during the event have been specified as some of the risk factors of PTSD (Hollandar and Simeon 2002, Reeves 2007, Trickey et al. 2012, Xue et al. 2015). In order for mental health professionals to protect individual, family, and community mental health, they should be actively involved in post-traumatic services for risk groups and in the treatment and recovery process of individuals (Oflaz 2008, Çam et al. 2016). Measures Personal information form This form, which questions the sociodemographic information of the students, consists of 11 questions about their grade, age, gender, field of study, number of siblings, educational status of the father and mother, socioeconomic status, family type, the coexistence of the parents, and the status of using harmful substances (Oflaz 2008, UNICEF 2012, Çam et al. 2016). |
