Corrosion inhibition of carbon steel by extract of Buddleia perfoliata

Buddleia perfoliata leaves extract has been investigated as a carbon steel corrosion inhibitor in 0.5 M sulfuric acid by using polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and weight-loss tests at different concentrations (0, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 ppm) and temperatures, namely 25...

Description
Summary:Buddleia perfoliata leaves extract has been investigated as a carbon steel corrosion inhibitor in 0.5 M sulfuric acid by using polarization curves, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and weight-loss tests at different concentrations (0, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 ppm) and temperatures, namely 25, 40 and 60 °C. Results showthat inhibition efficiency increases as the inhibitor concentration increases, decreases with temperature, and reaches a maximum value after 12 h of exposure, decreasing with a further increase in the exposure time. It was found that the inhibitory effect is due to the presence of tannines on this extract.
