Summary: | Beginning with ethnography of participatory process in a self-managed and cooperative free clinic in Belgium, this paper aims to point out participation’s requirements and constraints. Among these, I’ll especially focus on the “burdens of participation”. If this problem is doubtlessly intensified by the temporal length and compression’s intensity exercised within a self-managed organization 30 years old, nevertheless it raises questions unresolved by contemporary approaches of participation. The inquiry is shaped by weekly meeting spaces and guest room’s observation, and about fifteen individual interviews with the workers. |
