Summary: | To report a rare case of copious sialoliths from a single submandibular gland and Wharton duct and provide readers with a management consideration for similar patients.
A 55-year-old-man presented to otolaryngology clinic with recurrent sialolithiasis refractory to transoral removal.
Upon submandibular gland excision and interventional sialoendoscopy, the patient is found to have over 40 stones within the gland and duct.
A history of excessive stone formation may prompt earlier consideration of aggressive prophylactic treatment with submandibular gland excision to avoid symptomatic recurrence. |
