Summary: | Starch nanoparticles modified with ionic liquid were prepared by the reaction of starch nanoparticles with N-methyl-N-propyltrimethoxysilane imidazolium chloride. They were used as a new reusable and green heterogeneous nanocatalyst for the synthesis of symmetrical azines. Different azine derivatives were prepared using this quick procedure with satisfying yields. The reaction proceeded at room temperature in solvent-free conditions with a simple work-up, short reaction times, and an easy purification technique. All products were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopies. Also, the catalyst itself was characterized by FT-IR, scanning electron microscopy, and thermal gravimetric analysis. |
