Approach towards cost effective practical method for synthesis of 1-(substituted phenyl)-3-methyl propane 1,3-dione

A simple, convenient and high yielding method for the synthesis of 1-(substituted phenyl)-3-methyl propane 1,3-dione from substituted acetophenones have been developed. This method provides several advantages such as shorter reaction time, high yields (78-90%) and simple work-up procedure.
