Summary:This study aims to reveal the effects of publish or perish culture, which is a product of the marketization of science, in the field of educational administration in Türkiye. For this purpose, a bibliometric analysis of 253 publications written in the field of education management in Türkiye, included in the SSCI index in the Web of Science database, was performed. The distribution of publications by years, type of publication, and the subjects they focus on were examined, and at the same time, the journals published were evaluated according to their impact factors, rankings, and whether they were paid or not. As a result of the analysis, it has been revealed that the effects of the publish or perish culture on the field of educational administration are parallel to its effects on other fields. •We examined the impact of the publish or perish culture on the field of educational management in Turkey.•We observed that journals with lower impact factors, similar topics and local journals were preferred.•There is a trend towards faster results and easier publishing options rather than more time-consuming, quality publications.
