Summary:Electromagnetic therapy is one of the alternative medicines that treat diseases by applying electromagnetic radiation or pulsed electromagnetic field that popular nowadays. Many reviews claimed that it is one of effective therapy which can solve health problems that conventional medicine has failed. Few researches show that it can enhance healing process and manage aging symptoms. The objective of this study is to assess the knowledge, attitude and awareness on the electromagnetic therapy among Shah Alam residence. As the methodology the cross sectional survey was conducted at Shah Alam, Malaysia. About 200 Residences aged 18 and above were recruited for this survey. The participants were inquired about their sosiodemograpahic background, behavior and attitude on alternative medicine as well the knowledge, awareness and attitude on electromagnetic therapy. Therefore the results of this study indicate there is high-quality evidence acupuncture, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation artificial electromagnetic field (EMF) reduces pain and that psychoeducational interventions improve psychological outcomes. For other interventions and outcomes, the quality of evidence is low or there is no evidence from systematic reviews. Their knowledge on this therapy is good and knowledge on electromagnetic therapy was influenced by sociodermographic factors. EMF therapy has the potential to revolutionize medicine, which is currently dominated by pharmaceutical and surgical interventions. In this case, new therapeutic tools may be developed for future clinicians to provide noninvasive treatments with low risk of side effects and no problem with drug interaction.
