Summary:Tobacco use is a significant risk factor for periodontal disease, a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the supporting structures of the teeth. Early detection and intervention are crucial for preventing the progression of periodontal disease and its associated complications. This review paper explores recent innovations in the screening and diagnosis of periodontal disease, with a focus on advancements in technology and methodologies for assessing periodontal health in tobacco users. By examining the latest research findings and technological developments, this paper aims to highlight the potential of novel approaches to improve the early detection and management of periodontal disease in this high-risk population.
