Summary:What exactly is immunotherapy? Immunotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses humoral and/or cellular elements of the immune system to fight a disease. One could give immune cells from outside or boost body's own immune cells to attack cancer. [Figure 1] depicts various aspects of innate and acquired immunity. [2] Innate immune system can be activated by using safe adjuvants which can be used in vivo. The whole concept of cancer vaccines is to activate tumour antigen-specific immunity [Figure 2].
