Summary: | Surgery forms the mainstay of treatment of cancers in involving oral cavity. Unfortunately the functional and aesthetic outcomes of surgical treatment can be unacceptable depending on the extent and site of the resection. Immediate reconstruction, by the use of local and distant flaps and implants can mitigate these problems to a great extent. The anatomical and functional requirements for reconstruction vary according to the subsite, which is involved in the oral cavity.
