Summary:EU documents and international conventions ratified by Poland in the scope of environmental protection are guidelines for formulating Polish environmental policy. Necessity to adjust entails continuous evolution of this policy, which results in, among other things, the evaluation of its effectiveness. Therefore, the main aim of the present article is to prove that Polish environmental policy is effective. This objective is going to be reached via analysing chosen indicators in the period 2000-2009, which allowed to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental policy. The last part of the paper presents objectives to be met by Polish environmental policy in the period 2009-2012 and action necessary to facilitate and follow it. The article refers to the literature on the subject and relevant documents, reports and legal regulations on environmental policy.
