description This paper advocates for the implementation of the System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA) as a crucial tool for enhancing the system for collecting and analysing information. The text discusses the challenges and opportunities in environmental statistics in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the importance of integrating official statistics, policy, and science to foster a green economy. It highlights the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (2020-2025), which aims to improve environmental data collection and analysis. Despite these efforts, issues such as incomplete data, lack of public access, and inadequate coordination among state bodies persist. The study explores the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting, a tool that measures the relationship between the environment and the economy, offering insights for sustainable development. Uzbekistan’s potential implementation of the SEEA is outlined, with a focus on improving environmental management, informing policy, and meeting international standards. The roadmap for the SEEA’s implementation includes stages such as methodology development, data collection, and monitoring, aimed at enhancing decision-making processes and fostering sustainable natural resource use.
