The suggestion that we should abandon peer review and let postpublication review sort through the rigor of new science does not account for the new world in which we live. People will use “published” research to justify their perspectives, and so the propagation of poorly designed studies and inaccurate findings will further the erosion of the public’s “faith” in science.
