description A system maintainability analysis was studied to develop quantitative maintainability requirements for the systems and its subsystems and equipment. Time goals were established for the completion of maintenance tasks and the specification of a maintainability hardware approach, equipment design techniques and related procedures through which the maintenance time goals can be realized.A Maintainability Assurance Plan was developed to assure that maintainability requirements developed during the system analysis phase are incorporated into design. The plan includes design promulgation, training in maintainability principles, design guides and design consultation, design specification and design review. A Maintainability Evaluation Plan was also designed to test and evaluate the degree to which maintainability objectives were achieved, and to provide data on which to base improvements in criteria and design.
