Description
Summary:The principal process parameters studied were the delivery of reinforcement an resin impregnation. v ariations of the standard ECG 150 -1/0 yarn were investigated. A study of the rate of loading was conducted to determine its ef ect n laminate ultimate strength. Evaluation o the parameters was primarily accomplished by comparison of the p ysical laminate properties obtained, along with the ultimate strengths developed by biaxially loaded test specimens. The effectiveness of the application of optimun process parameters to a practical structure was investigated by the fabrication an test of everal typical rocket motor cases. In delivery, the tension magnitude an uniformity greatly in luenced both the physical and mechanical properties of the laminate. Viscosity f the resin system was the most critical parameter affecting impregnation. T e glass fiber strength o production yarn, ECG 15 -1/0, was equivalent to the same type environmentally pr tected yarn and environmentally pr tected roving. Load rate control as essential in magnitude of the failure stress and the mo e f ailure. (Author)
