Summary: | A report on work directed to the development of a high-gain, traveling-wave optical amplifier is presented. The solutions to some of the problems encountered are discussed and experimental results on pulse narrowing in the TWOM are presented. A study of diffraction-limited oscillator is presented. The solution of the aperture burning problem is discussed and recent measurements on the oscillator are presented. Part III contains an experimental and theoretical study of pumping light energy distribution in optical maser rods. The results of this study explain why certain far-field mode patterns are obtained with the diffraction-limited oscillator. (Author) |
