Summary:Lymphoid cells from normal C3H mice were incubated in vitro with RNA isolated from the X5563 plasma cell tumor. The cells were subsequently injected into sublethally irradiated isogenic mice. Electrophoretic analysis of sera from these recipient mice showed the presence of a serum component having the same electrophoretic mobility as the gamma myeloma protein synthesized by the tumor cells. The induced synthesis of this protein was relatively stable and persisted for approximately forty days. However, the protein was detected in sera from only a small percentage of the animals. Sera from mice injected with cells incubated with RNA isolated from normal lymphoid tissues did not contain the protein nor was it demonstrated in sera from normal or irradiated mice. (Author)
