Description
Summary:Development of additional information on wedging stresses is given, showing the functions of stress due to wedging as a function of time, and distance from the point of impact. Development of the resonant reactions of specimens subjected to impact is also given. The shear wave, on reflection from the ends of the specimen seems to control the beginning of resonant reactions. In the present report, static stress values are calculated for a point on the linear portion of the loading curve. This value then is corrected for time to failure, and for inertial corrections at the time of failure. Only single impact loading before failure can be treated with confidence.
